Thursday Thoughts (Dec. 31st Edition)

“This year has been a total dumpster fire.”…I paused when I heard those words come out of my mouth.

I was on a Zoom call with friends and joining in on the pile on of terrible things that have happened this year.

From the global level, down to the personal; we spent about 30 minutes cataloging all of the crap we have either experienced or witnessed and when the call ended I felt worse than when we started.

Maybe you’ve had one of those calls too?

Because it’s easy to pick up the mud in life. It’s harder to sift through it to find the gold.

I don’t want to miss out on the gold and I don’t want you to either…

Read more here about the tools I created to help you spend a moment reflecting on ALL of 2020 and give yourself a fuller, richer picture of your year.

Write Your Hero Origin Story

Mark you calendars for Saturday, January 16th 9am – 12pm PT for the next Writing Your Hero Origin Class.

I had so much fun with the first group and I learned as much as the participants.

There is so much power in your story…and yes, you have a story.

When you know how to structure it well it becomes your calling card.

Here’s what Tess had to say about her experience in the class.

“Deanna asked the kind of questions that helped me tap into my backstory. I’ve written my story before and it sounded like a regurgitated timeline with a lot of scattered information. I loved how she encouraged us to stay true to our stories yet also to be extremely simple and relatable. Deanna coached some of us in real time which was SO helpful for all of us even if we weren’t the one being coached. She has a kind, gentle, and fun style of coaching that I felt comfortable being myself around her and trying the exercises. My fear of failure sometimes gets in the way during interactive workshops, but I felt comfortable in this one! Thanks for helping me dig for the gold, Deanna!”

I’ll be sending out more information about the class the first week of January, but you can hit reply now and let me know you’re interested. Space will be limited!

The How of Happiness

Calling all readers!! I’m finishing up a Yale Certification Course on The Science of Well-Being. I’m a big nerd when it comes to the social sciences and why we do what we do…even when it’s not helping us.

Maybe you are too?

One of the books recommended through the course is “The How of Happiness” by Sonja Lyubomirsky. Much of the class is based on her research.

It is jam packed with ideas, concepts and tools on increasing your happiness. Might be a wonderful gift to give to yourself.

Better yet, you can join my reading group that starts Friday, January 8th at 10am PT. We’ll meet over Zoom for an hour a week. Total commitment is approximately 5 weeks.

Hit reply to this email if you’re interested or have any questions! I’ll respond with all the details!
